Garcia Under the Rehydration Clause
On Friday, Garcia hit the scales first, coming in slightly under the weight limit at 1355 pounds. Weighing in again on Saturday per the rehydration clause, Garcia was again under the limit.
Garcia (280-26-KO230) and Davis (19-KO58) will meet in a 12-round bout for the WBA lightweight title on Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Garcia agreed to all of Davis' terms for the fight, including the fight taking place at 136 pounds. "I wanted the fight to be at 135 pounds. That's my weight class," Davis told Boxing Scene.
Garcia landed a beautiful left hand to the body that forced Garcia to a knee where he was counted out by referee Harvey Dock at 1:39 of the opening round.
