Breaking News: Moscow Aviation Center Incident

Sheremetyevo Airport Evacuated After Severe Fire Outbreak

Passengers Rushed to Safety as 57 Injured, 1 Dead

Sheremetyevo International Airport, Moscow's busiest aviation hub, was engulfed in a devastating fire on Sunday, May 5, 2019, forcing a full evacuation and leaving dozens injured.

The blaze, which erupted in an Aeroflot Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft bound for Murmansk, quickly spread through the cabin. Passengers and crew members frantically evacuated the plane, some jumping onto emergency slides to escape the intense heat and smoke.

According to preliminary reports, 57 people sustained injuries, with one passenger, a 51-year-old man, tragically losing his life in the incident. The injured have been transported to nearby hospitals for medical care, with 10 reportedly in critical condition.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but authorities suspect a lightning strike during a thunderstorm that hit the Moscow area at the time of the incident. The Investigative Committee of Russia has launched a criminal probe into the matter.

The massive fire has caused widespread disruption at Sheremetyevo Airport, with all flights temporarily suspended. Passengers have been advised to check with their airlines for updates on their travel plans.

The incident has raised concerns about aviation safety in Russia, with authorities vowing to conduct a thorough investigation and implement necessary measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
